Just like most of the people, I have it turned off. Then I open WinAmp and listen to my music.

But hey, I do that with every game where I don't need to listen to other people or background music or monsters. So in Quake Wars, UT3 or other such games I just have to wear headset and listen to explosions, footsteps and so on.

I couldn't have said it better. Jeremy Soule is an incredible composer, and I have all of the DirectSong packs loaded into my iPod (I won't say how, and I won't give away any tracks, so don't ask ). Over the Shiverpeaks gets me every time.

But sometimes if I'm doing repetitive grinding or farming I'll listen to an audiobook or a podcast.

Like many, I expect, I have it on all the time apart from farming or doing something mindless (like levelling number X character). Does everyone like the battle music? I have to say that it irritates me sometimes, for example when the really Wagnerian tune comes on in EOTN... I wanted to LISTEN to that, goddamnit.

No, I think it's a waste of time and money that could go to the game. I don't understand the music thing it's distracting and takes away from the game. The first thing I do on any game is turn the music off. I think some of the music is quite nice but actually not my taste. Which is the problem since you cannot make music that everyone likes it just becomes random noise.

I used to play with GW music on, but I don't when using Vent, which is pretty much whenever I'm playing GW now. It also got a bit annoying with the random "battle" music starting at random in NF. It's on my Winamp playlist, though.

I turn off the music and have iTunes rocking in the background instead. I'm not saying that the music in Guild Wars sucks, but I've heard the same thing over and over again for goodness' sake.

I don't listen to the music anymore. I always have either iTunes or TS up, and sometimes both.

After a while in any game the music just gets old and I'd rather listen to my own stuff. I don't mind the music, and if I absolutely had to listen to it, it wouldn't kill me. I still turn off my music for cinematics though because I like to hear, not read.

Not since they introduced combat music.

*soothing music*
*walks into creature mob*
*RAMAMAMABAM!*
*kills all creatures*
*soothing music starts all over again*
*walks into a second mob 10 seconds later*
*RAMBAMRAMBAM!*

You only get to hear the first 15 seconds of each tune and it alternates all the time, driving me insane.

Nope, I get tired of repetitive game music pretty fast. And it allows me to hear the background sounds better which actually gives me information.

You forgot when you make an achievement:

*soothing music*
*walks into creature mob*
*RAMAMAMABAM!*
*kills all creatures*
*soothing music starts all over again*
*walks into a second mob 10 seconds later*
*RAMBAMRAMBAM!*
*Kill boss or finish quest or get any other achievement*
*Fanfarre*

They should have made more dynamic music, and resume the tracks where they where when they got interrupted.

A good example of well used music is Gothic, with dynamic DirectX Directmusic tracks that conmbine in a single piece depending on what you do.

I listen to the Guild Wars music whenever I play. I like the musical cues it gives me as things in the game happen/change. Also, I really enjoy the music. If I want to listen to something different, I won't be playing Guild Wars and I won't be using a PC to do it. Sorry, but IMHO, PCs make mediocre to bad audio systems.

GW still has in game music? Ohhhhhhh.

Ya no, sure don't. Normally have some music in the background that I prefer.

I turned my music way down a couple of months into the game. I didn't like it that much from the beginning (except the Prophecies and Factions opening), it only got worse after hearing it so much. Thus why I run with Winamp, Ventrilo or these days, both of them.

Note: my effects are still up though. I like to hear effects but I wanna be able to choose my music. Wishing it worked like that for console games too...

Default Hell yeah

I'm listening to it right now. At the office. I flat love the OST for this game. It's full of place and emotion. Right now, "Gwen's Theme" is playing, and it takes me right back to my first days in pre, rolling up new toons every night and seeing what they were like, discovering new parts of the "huge" pre map. Jeremy Soule is a god, and his music is as much a part of GW to me as is the game engine.

If you haven't purchased the music for this game, go to directsong.com right now and send a few sheckles to the artist. Or steal it - whichever makes the most sense for the kind of person you are. This is great stuff.

Yes, if only because doing otherwise virtually guarantees that the Creative drivers get utterly hosed. For whatever reason, running a media player or Pandora and the GW client with sound effects on at the same time screws up my sound after awhile as I alt-tab around.

All I can say is this: when it comes time to replace this machine, Creative components will not be on my short list of needed items.

Eww no. Its all cool hearing it the first time but after about 5 minutes or so it gets annoying. Whenever I play the music if always turned all the way down.

Not until they let me toggle which song I listen to. To be honest, it's pretty annoying when I like the battle music, or the area music, and I can't just listen to one when I'm going around vanquishing.
